Gossip Girl Episode 1.13 – A Thin Line Between Nate and Chuck

Goodness, I just finished watching this episode. SOOOO intense!! Definitely one of the best episodes and a great way to end the season, not too much of a cliffhanger but would definitely have you looking forward to what’s coming next. I love all the twists, the gossip, scandals, and all of the characters. I like Chuck being cruel – it’s so him. The Serena-Blair friendship, especially at the end, had me in tears. Jenny has apparently gotten to the top, which is sort of weird for me. I’m so used to her book character trying so hard but everyone knows it just wouldn’t happen for her, she’s a total joke really. It’s just, she would never be like Serena who just so effortlessly captivates everyone, or Blair who’s just so regal. I guess in the series it can happen for her… Oh! Elyse is here!! But in the show she’s… Jenny’s slave. Basically, Jenny sees her old self in E. I still have a feeling they will end up as best friends.

Chuck/Blair – Everyone loves this. I kind of like them, in fact, I love their drama but I just don’t see them actually becoming a real couple. It’s so cute how Chuck can be in love with Blair, be confused about having those kinds of feelings, and still be a complete ass. Great thing they’ve done with his character. I don’t want him to be in love forever, though, and decide to settle down for B and be less sleazy, which is what makes his character interesting on the show. This is why I don’t want them to end up being a couple. Maybe they’re better off as an ongoing fling that does sweet things for one another once in a while.

Lastly, those two girls that asked Rufus out both really reminded me of Blair. Their names are Bex and Bryn(?) and they were both brunette (I think almost the same hair color as Blair). They’re both very pretty as well. Bex resembles Blair a bit more, even the way she talks (or is it just me?) So coincidence?? Probably… This is so random! I’m gonna go. Bye!

Shindo

I’ve finally finished watching this and wow! It was a very good film. Nice, moving story and characters you can relate to. Makes you appreciate the piano and the struggles of those who play. I used to play myself and I don’t think I could ever get to play that well. The just looking at them play and listening to the pieces, they all seemed so difficult but they’re so good. My favorite piece was “Ripple.” When I used to play, all that mattered was that I correctly read the notes and press the right keys, I’ve never been to that level where I really cared about the dynamics and stuff.

I am officially a fan of Narumi Riko. She was so good and very pretty. She was supposed to be only 13 then but she looked so mature. She also looked really nice together with Kenichi Matsuyama, who also did well in his role. Even though she was just 13 and he was supposed to be 19, I was hoping their characters would end up together (at least in the future). They had lots of moments of course, and hints that they liked each other. In the end, I was satisfied enough because it did feel like they ended up together (or they really will someday) but it was still not so happily ever after because it was left kind of hanging.

Well, moving away from trying to turn their relationship into something romantic, they had a nice bond all in all. Even if they actually don’t turn into something more, their friendship was great to watch. They help and look out for each other. When they’re together, they sort of learn about themselves. It was just cool how they both benefit from the relationship.

Watch it…

Sweeney Todd

Yehey! Sweeney Todd will finally be shown here in the Philippines Wednesday next week, January 16, 2008. It was shown in the US last December and I heard it was really good and super graphic. I’m guessing they delayed showing it here to give way to the Metro Manila Film Festival, which had pretty crappy entries this year by the way. Anyway, at least it’s finally coming. I saw it’s R-18. It’s supposed to be a musical but really gory. I can’t wait to see Johnny Depp and hear his singing. Apparently, this is the first time he actually sings in a movie and based on the trailer, it’s not bad at all. This is directed by Tim Burton and it also stars his girlfriend, Helena Bonham Carter (Corpse Bride, Harry Potter OOTP), Alan Rickman (Harry Potter movies), Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat).

By the way, I think I read from this forum that Death Note is going to be remade into a live action Hollywood film as well. It was also indicated that Johnny Depp is interested in the part of L. I guess this might be true, except for the Johnny Depp part… I don’t know, it sounds so made up. Although L’s character does seem to be the type that would appeal to Johnny Depp. Even though I love Johnny, I still think of Kenichi Matsuyama as the perfect L. Plus, Johnny might be too old for L. But if they’re gonna do a Hollywood version, I guess he’d do a pretty good job as L (he’s always good naman e).

Now, here is the trailer of Sweeney Todd.
